The Tale of Quita the Rescued Dog.

Publication date 28th February 2017 ISBN 978-1-911240-55-6

This book is a complete surprise to me. The charity which rescued our latest dog, Quita, was trying to help eleven Golden Retrievers in a pound in Turkey. It was going to need a sizeable amount of funds to be raised so I needed to think big and the idea of a book was born.

The story itself just fell out of me because of the enormous amount of love that Quita gives back to us every day.

The Tale of Quita the Rescued Dog highlights the life that Quita lived for the first six months of her life in Cyprus. Held in a tiny rusty cage with little interaction from other dogs or people. She was then abandoned on the streets of the Larnaca area. Strangely enough we were actually in Larnaca at this time, little knowing what was happening.

Her life went from bad to worse as youths kicked her about until her stomach and ribs were cut and bruised. Later, finding herself again behind bars of a kill shelter, slowly starving to death as the day of being put down loomed closer, she was rescued and taken to safety. She weighed only 8 kg and was very weak.

Slowly nursed back to health and with food and veterinary attention her lovable character shone through and she was brought to England to live with us.

So many people have helped with this book. A friend had no hesitation in illustrating the story and a printing firm agreed to print a limited number of books at less than cost price, to be sold directly by the charity.

As a personal goal I decided to have the manuscript published and all the profits and royalties from the book are going to Happy Paws Puppy Rescue to help other dogs just like Quita. You can be assured that by purchasing this book you too have helped rescue another soul to bring joy and happiness to another family longing to care for a dog.
